One of our objectives for 2023 has been to help raise funds and awareness for a local charity. Saint Francis Hospice – a local charity that cares for people in our community with palliative and end of life care - fell under our radar, mostly due to the wonderful Andy Furneaux and his amazing talent as a Fundraiser. In June, Christine and I raised over £2,500 doing a sky dive with other Saint Francis supporters – including Andy, despite his fear of heights. It was a wonderful day, ending with a fantastic result. On Monday, we attended a rather more sophisticated Saint Francis event called the Big Heart Lunch. Anne Benden, one of the organisers and also a trustee of the charity, invited us along for a three course meal and opportunity to chat to other women who hold the Hospice close to their hearts.
